Sono state annunciate oggi le nomination per la 72a edizione dei Golden Globe Awards, prestigioso riconoscimento dedicato ai migliori film e serie televisive dell’anno, da molti considerato una sorta di anticamera per gli Oscar.
Quest’anno a guidare le nomination è Birdman di Alejandro González Iñárritu, che ottiene ben 7 candidature tra cui miglior film musical o commedia, miglior regia, sceneggiatura, miglior attore (Michael Keaton) e migliori attore e attrice non protagonisti (Edward Norton e Emma Stone). Grande risultato anche per il sempre più apprezzato Boyhood, che si conferma di nuovo tra i favoriti nella categoria dedicata ai film drammatici: il bellissimo film di Richard Linklater si guadagna infatti 5 nominations tra cui miglior film drammatico, regia, sceneggiatura e migliori attore e attrice non protagonisti (Ethan Hawke e la grande favorita Patricia Arquette).
Stesso numero di nominations anche per The Imitation Game, biopic su Alan Turing con Benedict Cumberbatch e Keira Knightley (entrambi candidati), mentre sono invece 3 le candidature per Foxcatcher di Bennett Miller (con un irriconoscibile Steve Carell giustamente in corsa per il titolo di miglior attore); insieme a questi ultimi, a completare la cinquina dei nominati come miglior film drammatico (con 4 candidature a testa) sono l’apprezzato La Teoria del Tutto (film su Stephen Hawking con Eddie Redmayne e Felicity Jones, anch’essi entrambi candidati) e la sorpresa Selma, applaudito biopic su Martin Luther King diretto dalla stimata regista afroamericana Ava DuVernay.
Nelle categorie dedicate ai film commedia o musicali, il film di Iñárritu dovrà vedersela con Grand Budapest Hotel, il delizioso film di Wes Anderson in gara con 4 nomination (miglior film musical o commedia, miglior regia, sceneggiatura e miglior attore al protagonista Ralph Fiennes); a contendersi il titolo di miglior film musical o commedia anche la commedia british Pride, l’apprezzato St. Vincent con Bill Murray (anch’esso candidato) e il musical di Rob Marshall Into the Woods, presente anche nelle categorie della recitazione con le nominations alla brava Emily Blunt e alla sempreverde Meryl Streep. 3 candidature anche per Big Eyes di Tim Burton, che fa guadagnare un’altra nomination ai due già premiati protagonisti Amy Adams e Christoph Waltz.
E se L’Amore Bugiardo, ultimo film di David Fincher, riesce ad ottenere ben 4 candidature di cui 3 davvero importanti (miglior regia, sceneggiatura e miglior attrice a Rosamund Pike), d’altra parte sorprendono le 2 nominations (tra cui quella per la giovane Quvenzhané Wallis) al musical Annie, remake del celebre film del 1982, mentre il nuovo film di Christopher Nolan Interstellar ottiene soltanto una candidatura per la migliore colonna sonora del grande Hans Zimmer.
Per quanto riguarda invece gli attori, tra i candidati al premio come migliore attore non protagonista, J. K. Simmons si conferma decisamente il favorito per la sua interpretazione nell’applaudito film indie Whiplash (che inaspettatamente ottiene un’unica pur sacrosanta nomination), mentre nella stessa categoria concorre con onore anche l’inossidabile Robert Duvall, la cui intepretazione in The Judge rimane la cosa migliore di un film comunque al di sotto delle aspettative. In corsa per il premio, nelle categorie dei migliori attori protagonisti, anche Jake Gyllenhaal (davvero notevole nell’ottimo Lo Sciacallo di Dan Gilroy) e il Joaquin Phoenix di Vizio di Forma, ultimo film del grande Paul Thomas Anderson.
D’altra parte, tra le attrici in corsa per il premio, se non stupisce affatto la candidatura a Reese Witherspoon (solitaria protagonista di Wild di Jean-Marc Vallée), risulta invece decisamente meno scontata la nomination ad Helen Mirren per il suo ruolo in Amore, Cucina e Curry di Lasse Hallström, mentre fa piacere vedere tra le candidate anche la Jessica Chastain di A Most Violent Year. E se a sorpresa, dopo la nomination al SAG Award, Jennifer Aniston continua a mietere consensi ricevendo una nomination per la sua intensa interpretazione nel drammatico Cake, la grande Julianne Moore, reduce da un anno per lei davvero eccezionale, ottiene una doppia candidatura, come miglior attrice musical o commedia per Maps to the Stars di David Cronenberg e come miglior attrice drammatica per Still Alice, confermandosi grande favorita per la vittoria in quest’ultima categoria.
Tra i candidati alla miglior canzone spiccano grandi nomi come Lana Del Rey, John Legend e Patti Smith (candidati rispettivamente per i brani da Big Eyes, Selma e Noah) mentre piuttosto telefonate le nominations al miglior film d’animazione, in cui il sorprendente The Lego Movie dovrà scontrarsi con il nuovo film Disney Big Hero 6 e con un altro grande successo come Dragon Trainer 2.
Infine, per quanto riguarda la categoria del premio al miglior film straniero, se da una parte stupisce l’assenza di due grandi film come Mommy di Xavier Dolan e Due Giorni, una Notte dei fratelli Dardenne, dall’altra piuttosto inattesa è invece la candidatura al film estone Tangerines, anche se tra il russo Leviathan, lo svedese Forza Maggiore, l’israeliano Viviane e il polacco Ida, quest’ultimo rimane comunque il grande favorito.
Tra i grandi esclusi dalle nomination spiccano American Sniper, nuovo film di Clint Eastwood con protagonista Bradley Cooper, Mr. Turner di Mike Leigh e soprattutto, a sorpresa, l’attesissimo Unbroken, secondo film da regista di Angelina Jolie, che incredibilmente non riceve nemmeno una candidatura; tra gli interpreti, oltre al grande Timothy Spall protagonista del succitato biopic di Leigh (per cui fu premiato a Venezia), restano fuori dalla rosa dei candidati anche la Hilary Swank di The Homesman, la Laura Dern di Wild e la grande Marion Cotillard, eccellente in Due Giorni, Una Notte come anche in The Immigrant di James Grey.
Nelle categorie dedicate alla televisione, a guidare la competizione è Fargo, che ottiene 4 nominations per gli attori e una quinta come miglior miniserie o film per la televisione; segue, con 4 candidature, la serie antologica di culto True Detective, i cui protagonisti Matthew McConaughey e Woody Harrelson ricevono entrambi una nomination nella categoria del miglior attore di miniserie o film televisivo.
Buoni risultati anche per l’imperdibile House of Cards con Kevin Spacey e Robin Wright (ovviamente entrambi candidati) e per la serie Netflix di successo Orange is the New Black: entrambi i serial ottengono infatti 3 candidature, come anche la conferma The Good Wife e la novità The Affair; stesso numero di nomination per la miniserie Olive Kitteridge con Frances McDorman e Bill Murray e per l’ottimo film TV targato HBO The Normal Heart, diretto da Ryan Murphy. A quota 2 nomination, oltre alla miniserie The Missing, alcune conferme come Downton Abbey, Girls, Ray Donovan e American Horror Story ma anche un paio di sorprese, ovvero Jane the Virgin e la web serie Transparent. Una sola candidatura, invece, per serie di successo come Il Trono di Spade, Homeland, Veep e The Blacklist.
Tra le new entry nelle categorie della recitazione in TV, anche alcuni celebri nomi del grande schermo come Viola Davis, Maggie Gyllenhaal e Clive Owen, candidati rispettivamente per How to Get Away with Murder, The Honorable Woman e The Knick di Steven Soderbergh. A questo proposito, da notare i successi di Mark Ruffalo e Bill Murray, che oltre alla nomination nella categoria cinema ottengono anche una seconda candidatura per un ruolo in televisione, il primo per la sua interpretazione in The Normal Heart, il secondo come miglior attore non protagonista in Olive Kitteridge.
Tra gli esclusi, da notare la totale assenza di Modern Family ed altri precedenti vincitori (su tutti, Mad Men e Boardwalk Empire), ma anche di altre serie di successo come The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Sons of Anarchy e The Walking Dead, mentre per quanto riguarda gli attori non riescono ad ottenere la nomination la sempre grande Maggie Smith di Downton Abbey, la Amy Poehler di Parks and Recreation e l’ottima Julia Roberts di The Normal Heart.
Infine, il premio Cecil B. De Mille alla carriera di quest’anno sarà invece assegnato a George Clooney.
